With 45,674 new Coronavirus cases and 559 deaths, India’s tally crossed the 85 lakh mark

Coronavirus Update in India: India’s tally of all recorded Coronavirus cases surged to 8,507,754 lakh with the addition of 45,674 new cases and 559 deaths in the last 24 hours. Active Coronavirus cases in India have decreased by 3,967 in a day and currently stands at 512,665.

While the total number of cases broke the 85 lakh mark, the death toll also climbed to 1,26,121. A total of 78,68,968 people have recovered from Coronavirus in India so far pushing the national recovery rate to 92.49 percent, while the case fatality rate has further declined to 1.48 percent.

Mumbai reported the lowest number of cases in 6 months!

Mumbai reported 576 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest in almost six months. The state also reported 160 deaths, taking the total fatalities past the 45,000 mark.

Not just Mumbai, but the complete state of Maharastra reported a significant decline in daily coronavirus cases. 3,959 infections were recorded in the state on Saturday, the lowest in 12 days.

Delhi has emerged as the highest contributor to new cases

Delhi overtook Maharashtra and Kerala by reporting 6,953 Covid-19 cases in a span of 24 hours, becoming the largest contributor to the new 45,674 single day infections, according to Union Health Ministry on Sunday. 

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal asked people to stay calm and follow the Covid-19 guidelines.

He said – Like the previous two waves of coronavirus, the third one will end soon in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday as he urged Delhiites to make wearing mask a movement to arrest the spread of COVID-19 amid the festive season and rising air pollution.

77 percent of these new cases of Covid-19 are from 10 states and union territories- Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 remained below 6 lakh for the ninth consecutive day. There are 5,12,665 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country as of the date which comprises 6.03 percent of the total caseload.
